I'm thinking about replacing my dash speaker with one of the new DVC speakers. Has anyone done this and how do you get to the speaker? Thanks, Rob

They are not easy to get at. to do a decent job the ashtray, radio, heater controls, and maybe even the defrost ducting may have to be removed. The single mono center speaker is pretty crappy for sound. unless it is a "numbers" kind of car, putting two speakers in the kick panels in the stock "optional" spots will give you better sound and there are nice stock covers available from most resellers. Classic, Ames etc. just my 2cents.

Mine came with one (Sony). Nice unit, good sound, but it rattled. Pull the ashtray and radio (depending on if it's factory or aftermarket the order of this could change). 2 screws at the bottom hold on the big trim detail. with it off you should have ok access to the bottom of the speaker where a bracket holds it up. you may have to pull the heater controls too. and i had my center console out, which helped. check yellowbird's site for the service manual which shows the exploded view of the dash. good luck.

yep, I made a wood frame and parked 2 lil 4" boston acoustics side by side.. sending both signals to one good speaker will cause a conflict in signal processing and degrade the sound
It's only a hobby... It onl a hob.. it o ob.

a little off topic but. when I took mine out a folded up paper fell out. it must of been vibrating so I guess the technology of that era was to fold up a page from a stamping press and wedge it in there. lol
