Just have to say, Mike and I just placed an order with them. 28 items all together, in stock, order being pulled and shipped today! Shipping charge was so minimal that I am not sure they even charged enough!
I love this place. To date, I have only ever had one item delayed for shipping (part was on their display truck). One part that I was not happy with and received a double order once. Those few issues in over 10 years now of buying from them. And the issues mentioned above were handled immediately and perfectly.
I have a folder FULL of receipts from Ames, between our Bird and now the LeMans I have spent thousands with them and have NEVER once had an item not be in stock and NEVER once had an item put on back order.
When I placed the order for all the LeMans stuff back in Feb. I had over 3k in parts, a few pages of parts, NOT ONE part was back ordered. I am not so sure any other vendor would be able to say the same. I know one for sure that could NEVER make this claim and that would be Performance Years!
Have to say I've had nothing but good things to say about Ames recently as well. But I didn't start off that way.
A couple of years ago when I was doing an engine refresh, I placed orders with NPD mostly but did go to Ames for some stuff. Of about 3 orders I placed with them, I had issues with 2 of those shipments.
They do seem more reliable and consistent lately. Don't know if that's just my experience.

I suppose all of these places have their issues, I am only offering mine as an example. In addition, I have called and asked for advise, tech help, opinoins on products and again, they have ALWAYS had an answer. In addition, they have told me someone would call me back, and they always have.
ped, I am glad to hear your most recent experiences have been positive. I hope they continue to be in the future. In the event there is an issue, don't hesitate to immediately call them. To me, this is what makes the difference in any retailer, how they handle problems/issues. Some do, most do not...
i have been happy with ames , of the items i have had issues with they corrected.they are at the top of my list, i put classic at my bottom list of have to have items only.
Heartbeat City is rapidly becoming one of my favorite vendors. When they sold just NOS they were insanely expensive, but now they carry in stock a lot of high quality hard to find elsewhere items. Prices are good and service is excellent. They are a First Gen Camaro vendor, so not all items will be available, but the amount of overlap is very large.

I'll second Heartbeat City. I had one issue with them and they sent the missing item out the same day. Excellent service. I would highly recommend. Ames is also at the top.
I've also bought a few items from Heartbeat City and was impressed with the service. Actually the first time was off of ebay - they emailed me back to advise that if there is a next time go to their website where its less expensive than ebay - didn't expect that.
Havent bought anything in awhile , but when I did 10-6 yrs ago....I found Ames to be the best, bought most from them, bought alot from Classic, but had to figure out first if it was a FB/Camaro part or FB OR Camaro...(`Maro spoilers fit fine! lol) bought ONE item from Year One , as they seemed the highest priced and had one part nobody else did...bought a few from Paddock...only tried once at NPD (inner ws pillar covers for vert), and the part didnt fit ,was returned (got nice used ones from FirebirdBill instead) and I never tried NPD again...last few yrs I check Ames first.
