thanks guys. I really still dont think it will cost as much as my 2nd gen . but could be wrong.
any way its not the money , its the know how of being correct.like the other post, I asked what color is the primer that was used? I'm restoring a 77 W72 t/a right now. I could probably tell you what every nut and bolt is for on the 2nd gen. and going to try to have them both done by mid summer, next year.

Doug take your time, I have easily a few thousand hours into mine. It may have been in slightly better condition than yours, but seems I did all of the repairs you mentioned. I did all but the convertible top on mine. I have several places to keep reciepts, but won't dare put them all together and add them up. I am certain my restore is in the ballpark of what others mentioned. Buy the best you can afford.
today after work. I'll get the rear in the air tomorrow.
the hole floor and column is coming out. I cut the floor so I could stand inside it when I cut the rest of it. I need to get the rear end out , so I can cut more floor. once the rear end is out, the body Is going to get blasted. firewall, frame rails , rockers and door jams, and all the front end parts.

My '67 was from Fremont, OH. Car looked good sitting there, but after the tear-down, 95% of the rear metal was a goner. Check out my photobucket for picts of what we did.
I am glad I did it. Car is a blast. Took second place at a local show this past weekend. (my '68 took first)

I was thinking that exact thing as I was going through these pics. Seems like ages ago. Hang in there bud. There is really an end. I am 7 months into this job and just getting paint on. Make sure you brace up everything and take lots of measurements before you cut it apart.

nice job. I'll be posting more pics later tonight. I'm doing all the samethings.
Doug, do you need a homemade subframe??? Check my photobucket page. My real subframe is going on soon and I would love someone else to get use out of it. You can have it if you want it, as long as you pass on to help someone else out. I've got 60 bucks wrapped up in it but rather someone get use out of it then sell it....

thanks but I shouldnt need it. if all goes well this bird should be back on her feet by the end of Sept.
Sept? That's impressive. I started mine last summer, went back to school in the fall and now having a baby in sept.... Maybe by the time my kid graduates college, I might be done. Now that I think about it, I might have to sell the bird to afford college..

Work looks good. Keep it up. Heck you may be driving it before I am driving ours. Seems like its way harder for me to find time to work on the car in the summer. To many things competing for my limited free time.
thanks Larry, I dont wait till I have time , I make time for my birds. this is my hobby. I have to find the time to do all the other stuff every one else does.
Doug The body looks impressive, I'm bring my next bird to you.. instead of brookville..

that aint no $heot the rust is crazy. Lori has sweeped up 100lbs of rust and dirt off the floor.
LOL, when Jerry Tallman picked up a parts car here in Houston a few years ago, he said the car was at least 50 lbs lighter when he got home with it! rust fell off during the transport....

Wow. Looking back I really think you are handling this the right way. It probably would have been faster to just cut all the old stuff off and build it like your doing. I spent tons of time trying to match up new metal to old. Keep up the good work.

Nice work Doug & fast. How's about sending us a drop of your DNA!
Did you have to replace any rockers? At what point will you install the rear frame? After Qtr's are tied into the trunk?
the frame rails will be the last thing to go on. and all I need to do is bolt the front spring cup the the floor pan and the other bolt to the frame rail. I took mesuments , but will lower the body onto the spring and axel, bolt it all in, check the mesuments and tack the frame rails on. take it apart and weld it up.
