Some outfits repop them, but they are nowhere near original. I put a light bead of clear silicone around the bottom of my tachs, then let it dry. Then later, set it on the hood and tighten it down. That is a better seal than the hokey repops.

"Part# FD355 Description 67 HOOD TACH GASKET (RE) Net Comments THIS GASKET WILL NOT FIT THE REPRODUCTION TACH WITHOUT ELONGATING THE STUD HOLES. THIS GASKET IS USED BETWEEN THE HOOD TACH AND HOOD. THESE WERE ORIGINALLY USED BY GM IN 1967, BUT OFTEN LOST BY RESTORERS AND BODY SHOPS WHEN RE-PAINTING THE HOOD. QUALITY IS EXCELLENT."
Hi All! Getting ready to cut a hole myself... '68, with 68 short tach. Saw youtube (Scared Shiftless) install, but they went through at a point on the hood that centered within the hood's triangular under framing. That puts the hole in a little bit diff place than the template Bob has I think... any thoughts or comments ? I, as we all, have only one shot at this....yikes! I'm going to take Bob's template and test the spot to see how diff.... will let you know~
'68 400HO Coupe, 4 spd, 259 interior, Windward Blue. My other car's a Johnson 15 outboard on a '61 Starcraft rowboat... Just sayin'.
The hole goes through part of the underside framing. So if you say where it missed the framing, it would be in the wrong place. The template on fgf is within an 1/8" of original.

I finally moved my tack to the 400 hood. I had to enlarge the mount holes a little. 3/16 holes have no margin for error whatsoever. Apparently I didn't locate the holes perfectly. Also, with the 3 5/8 hole, it might be tricky to replace the light bulb. So a 3 3/4 hole might be optimal or add a little extra to clear the socket.
