Some how I got two wiring harness plugs with my hood tach. One is a cheap one that just has three long wires.(must have came with the tach) and the other is a fancy one that has plugs and fuse holder. Is there a drawing any where on how this is wired and routed? BTW what size fuse does this take?
one wire is a ground one for lights and ione goes to the coil I cant remeber what fuse it takes..If anyone needs a template for the hood tack hole let me know..
Yea, mine look exactly like the two you have. I had to use the crappy looking one (the one that looks like I could have built it myself, and that's not saying much). I called both Ames and Classic Ind., and they both said the new repro tachs could only be used with the cheap harness.
There is an inconsistency with this though. If you look on the Classic website, they say that the nicer harness can be used on original OR REPRO tachs. But, I can tell you, it doesn't work on the repros for sure. When I called their tech support, he clearly said the nicer harness will NOT work on repros - the inner electronics are different.
I think the reason they say that in print is because they have a no return policy on there wiring. I'm still going to study the two and get my volt meter out see if I can use some of it. They are just wires what electronic would be in it? I would like to use that adapter for the washer pump and the fuse holder.
