I live at the top of a hill and my driveway is up from the road. Well I stoped at the top of the hill to move my truck from driveway. When I got to the truck my budy next door yelled (Jim Your Car). I ran down the drive to see the bird was gone. I ran down the street but could not find it. After looking for a while I found it over a bank between two houses. I can't believe how lucky the damage wasn't worst. ( I think I'am still shaking)
"First you leave me with no park brake, let me crash down this hill, then you come down here with a camera and I'm still hanging on for dear life!" "See if I give you another burn out!"

if so you`re very lucky.... but not quite as lucky as I was, 1967.
Living in Stockholm Sweden at the time, my younger brother came over to go to college, he got a Volvo P1800 "demo" from the factory (to later be shipped to My dads dealership in Texas), it had only personal insurance (for him only), but I had a convertible , he wanted to trade one night so he could use the convertible on his date. I took the brand new P1800 out w a friend...we stopped at a candy stor on top of a hill , where the road goes down in a slight turn to a bridge over a canal. a couple of guys on 'mopeds' were hanging around...I thought , "maybe I should look the car,"...then " no , its ok"...we went in , got candy ,came out, NO CAR! I foirst thought "the kids stole the car!"
looked around , nope , here is the car hanging half way over the edge to the canal...I always put cars in gear , no p brake...must have missed the gear. It rolled down the hill, thru a 2 ft picket fence , which most likely slowed it enough to not disappear in the water! We managed to open the door (which was right over the edge, I got in, my buddy jumped onto the trunk so we could getvrear wheels to the ground...nope , didnt get enough traction...people came by and with 2 more on the trunk we got traction...scraped underneath ,grass etc, but nobody could get at the front to push as it was out over the water... no damage at all!
but luckily the car didnt go into the water...if so, I had reported it stolen, next day a tourist boat would have hit it in the tight canal, they would have found the car (not stolen) and most likely would have thought "insurance fraud"...plus the car was only insured w my brother using it. My dad would have killed me!
Jim, sorry to hear and see what happened. I hope everything works out well with the repairs. I am glad nobody was hut too.
Good luck, and keep us up to date on the repairs.

Wow. Very lucky it turned and stopped where it did, and didn't go through the house or all the way down the hill. Glad no one was hurt and the damage was not too bad.
Holy chit Jim! My heart would have stopped....I'm going down to tighten my emerg brake tonight...it's marginal. Glad the damage is barely skin deep. Looks like you have something to do this cool winter....
Hey it happens. I had a similar experience 20 years ago, I had a 340 duster with a 4spd and no ebrake. I parked it in front of my house and put it in gear since my street had a slight slope to it.
I came out and thought someone stole the car. I looked and saw the car about 6 houses down the street resting against a tree. No damage, no one got hurt. I fixed the ebrake the next day!
Thanks guys for the words of support. I have been thinking about returning it to the original Coronado gold and going back to a more original motor. I have all parts to take it back to stock. I keep thinking it is to good a car to hotrod.
