We're installing a new carpet in our 69 Bird. It's shaped to go over the hump. We are having a problem getting it stretched tight against the hump. It won't lay flat and has humps in it when you are trying to stretch the curves. There must be a trick to this to get the carpet to stretch tight. Does anybody have any tricks they'd like to share? Thanks.

the carpet will lay flat over time. also depends on the brand. still i used a heat gun to soften the carpet alittle.

Getting it warm in the sun +++. I also had access to a 1/2 dozen sand bags I used to weight it down over the hump, that also helped keep it in place. The last thing you want is to cut it short at the sill plate or kick panel (like the 69Camaro guy down the street from me!)

Looks great. Did it lay that flat right out of the box? Or did you have to do some heating up and molding. The last carpet that I bought for my 2nd gen was a piece of molded plastic fuzz. This looks like a lot better quality.

thanks. no. that thing sat for at least 2 weeks. i did use a heat gun to soften the carpet at the heal pad area and i did not cut any thing till it was in place and the trans shifter and brackets for the console was removed. this is a great kit to get. not much to trim and it looks just like you see it. the key is no cutting till last step. i learned the hard way.

I used the bolts for the seat and seatbelts to hold everything tight.
