I'm an Aussie also looking for a firebird! I'm after a good 1968 firebird 400 coupe that is driving with as little rust/bondo as possible. I am open to a car that has been restored but I do have a budget.

Looking for a driver that needs restoration( as little rust/bondo as possible) or willing to look at a car that is an older restoration or yes a part restoration. In any case the car must have the original drive line with little or no mods. As I have been looking for a while now I think I have a good idea of what these cars are bring however I willing to pay well for the right car. Here in Australia we have very strict import laws regarding early cars and this narrows my options to the above.
Thanks Jarett, Yes I had been watching this car. This is the sort of thing I'm after but its hard to buy from ebay when the car is very popular. I was away this weekend and when I got back I was suprised to see what it went for. Maybe for a few thousand more you could get something with some resto done already (this is what I'm looking for too).

I have a few other birds on the flock and planning to keep only two, a vert and a coupe (will get heat for this), but both will be protouring style

I am not sure if you have any interest on an original 67, basically already mostly restored. Original 400, turbo 400 (column shifter), rebuilt engine and tranny, paint is about 4 years old, interior fully restored. Originally a bench seat I swapped to individual seats (original style). Was verdoro green car.
I have swapped the original intake and 2 barrell carb (I still have it boxed and in perfect working condition. Aside from more modern wheels and the black tape over the rear fins, the car is about 80% ready. I say 80% as most projects are never ready Rust free, clean title, etc. I do not have PHS but could possibly obtain.
The car runs and drives beyond excellent. As much as I love the car I am having a major itch to go pro-touring with it (see the bigger wheels) and just can not bear to do that to a matching everything car (still drum brakes all around). The car also has all new weatherstripping. This car has been babied and wll taken care off. The engine bay is half done, I was about t remove the engine last Winter and ended up holding off. Teh original AC "black luggage" is there however I do not have teh compressor and forward AC components.
Car number 3 is a 68 Black Firebird, 350, 4 speed, new paint, build in progress. The interior is stripped. link to picture album
