Here's another confusion factor to throw in concerning fuel line and battery cable routing. In the parts book, it shows the positive battery cable to be routed in front of the engine crossmember and secured by two plastic clips.
In the diagram for the fuel lines, it shows the main line also in front of the crossmember, but secured by metal clips.
There are only two holes, so it has to be one method or the other to secure these items. Mine has the standard fuel/brake line double metal clip on the pass side and a oddball metal clip on the driver side.
Anybody have pics of their car's routing and clips or know how it should look?

Thanks Jim! I can't see what is holding the battery cable. I see something just to driver's side of the center brace of the crossmember. Is that a plastic clip? What hole does it go into?

They are straps that plug into a hole in the frame crossmember similar to the straps that the front harness is securred with on the fender well.
Ames part FM699C, $1.50 Description 67-69 POS BTRY CABLE RETAINING STRAP, EA(RE) Net Comments THIS SECURES THE BTRY CABLE TO THE FRAME CROSSMEMBER.

Hmmm...that's weird, my fuel line and right front brake line ran tandom across the back of the crossmember with 2 double line clips.

I think I have those running that way in the back too. Do you have both fuel lines on yours? One of mine runs across the front and one across the back of the crossmember. (I confuse which is the main and which is the return.)

Ah...I have the single line set-up, no return. It seems they weren't to concerned about protecting the line from road debris if they ran one of them in the front of the crossmember. Yeah, I guess the return line poses less of a hazard being up front instead of the main fuel line. Since you don't have a return line up front, what is holding your battery cable; metal clips or plastic straps? Larry

You don't have the hole the strap is pushed into? There you go! We're gettin' somewhere! I only have one hole on each end of the crossmember. I sandblasted the subframe, so I'm pretty sure there isn't another hole next to the metal clip. That's why nothing was making sense. With only two holes to work with, I couldn't figure out why the manual shows clips and straps in what appeared to be the same locations. So, I can assume there are two holes on the pass side too? I'll have to go look again. Thanks so much for clearing this up!

I used the cushioned metal clips you can get a lowes or home depot.

Like Doc said, main fuel line and front brake line run across the rear of the crossmember in double clips, vapor return line runs across the front of the crossmember in single metal clips. Positive battery cable runs across the front of the crossmember via plastic straps

OK, I can verify that there are no holes next to the ones that are holding the metal clips. I did, however, forget to mention that there is a hole on the passenger side next to the frame rail. The manual shows that to be used for the plastic strap along with another strap on the frame rail. I stuck the battery cable in those for the hell of it. That has to be correct.
At this point, I am going to guess that since my car is a late build, maybe they started using the metal clips for both the fuel line and battery cable.
I still find it odd that the driver's side clip is something I haven't seen before on a GM car. There really isn't room for both the cable and line.

One more question... Does you guy's return line look like how it's illustrated in the manual? After going through the driver's side clip, it takes a 90 degree straight up and then another 90 towards the fuel pump?

Mine makes the 90 up and then a 90 toward the front of the car. The perspective of the drawing is difficult to see but it may agree if you look at how the hose comes off forward in the figure.
