I'm in need of a bunch of nuts, bolts, washers, and hardware to put together the rest of the 455. I can source most of these bolts locally from a fastener shop or the local hardware store. But I need to know the exact sizes of each first (ie. thread, length, diameter, washer or not, etc). Does anyone know where I can find a good reference to get all the correct bolt sizes for the motor? Below is just a partial list of the hardware I'll need:
- Trans to Bellhousing Bolts - Bellhousing to Motor Bolts - Dust Cover Bolts - Flywheel Bolts - Starter Bolts - Clutch Pressure Plate Bolts - Trans Xmember to trans Bolts - Motor Mount Bolts - Carb to Motor Bolts - Fuel Pump Bolts - Starter Bolts etc., etc., etc...the list goes on.
I've wrestled though identifying a few bolts as I worked on my '68. It is sometimes tedious. The Pontiac Parts Catalog often (but not always) shows fasteners in the Illustrations Sections. (I use the 1972 version that I got from Bishko) Sometimes you then have to dig into the part groups in the catalog's Parts Sections to obtain the application, finish, hardness, or other details.
I believe an on-line version of 1st gen applicable pages may still be available on line somewhere.
