I'm getting ready to paint my "69 and was wondering about the fender ornaments behind the front wheels. When the car is painted will I have to take the fenders back off to put these back on? This is the first of many dumb questions to come.

Friend of mine stuck his back on w dbl sided tape 15 yrs ago, still holding up fine

Same here,Had my 69 painted last winter and bodyman used double sided tape.No problem so far. i would use good quality tape though not the cheap stuff.

I never thought of the tape! However you can jam your arm up there after removing the 2 bottom fender bolts. Might have to pull it out a little bit,but it can be done. There will be profanity involved!

Shave the mouldings off. It looks cleaner without them. IMO

I mean leave them off and weld up the holes. Not sure I have any pics. I'll take one if I think of it.

That's it. Looks better than cheapo bling. IMO. Easier to clean too.

Holes are filled in, almost ready for paint. You're right, it is a cleaner look. If I don't like it I can always take the tabs off and tape the pieces on. Thanks

Firebob, you're right. Car is painted, I've put everything back together and it looks great. I will post some pics as soon as my 15 year old son shows me how.
