I fitted my B&M quick silver shifter a few days ago and took some pics. I need a ratchet shifter as I am going drag racing next year and I need to hold onto the gear changes until about 5000rpm and it is changing at 4500rpm in D at the moment.
I also have just finish installing a posi axle from a 70 Trans am which is a Chevy 10 bolt it had 2.41 gears so I changed them to 3.73's at the same time. I had 2.56's with an open diff before.
I went for a test drive and my axle was good no noises so I got the shimming right. I have been for a few more drives to test the shifter and it is the buisness changes great from 1st to second and to then from 2nd to 3rd. It's impossible to miss a shift now as you can push it as hard as you like and it will only change up 1 gear. I have also fitted a monster Tach with a shift light.
I gave it some beans from a standing start only about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and man this thing is quick now! I am hoping to drop from 15.6 mph 1/4 mile with the open diff and 2.56's to low 14's or maybe even a 13!

Yes I tried to fit it in the console but it was slighly too big. I could have bought the 2nd gen console B&M Quicksilver shifter but there is no cable and gearbox lever with it as it's for a cable system and mine is a 67 and had a rod linkage. It would have ment buying the cable and gearbox lever seperately adding to the cost!
Also the handle would have hit the dash in park!
I think it looks less clutered with the console gone and I only stored junk in there anyway a pen a screwdriver a few fuses there in the glovebox now.
