Are the power steering caps metal on the FGF's? I thought they were plastic, but lately, I have seen a few metal ones.

Depends on which pump and which cap. The round ones with ridges are plastic. The ones with a knub sticking out on opposite sides are metal.

My origional one on my original pump still is metal, with instructions to use automatic transmission fluid, the only thing that has ever been in the pump during its 700k mile lifetime.
