my 68 was a 4 spd once-upon-a-time but when i got it, it was a basket case. now it is auto.
i aquired an original auto-shifter and i want to mount straight on the hump and lose the console.
but, the shifter was made for a console. so, it sets up about 4 to 5 inches above floor.
does anyone make a surround for the bottom of it?
or should i just go buy a b&m or hurst shifter and do it the easy way ?
or other options ?
the car will never be close to original, as i only bought a body blank and built from there.

Let me know if you go with an aftermarket shifter. I have a console and need a stock auto shifter.

My 9 has a auto ****er and console. If they are even remotly related, I understand what you are taking about. If you're cannin the console, you may want to can the shifter too. After all, they are pos, compared to some aftermarket shifters.

"F" ... the missing letter, and the grade you'd get ...

Years ago I used a Hurst Pro-Matic shifter in my 'bird, is a really nice affordable shifter if you plan to ditch the console.
