I am hoping to put 4 speakers in my 67 convertible. I am not too concerned about making holes in the area to the left and right of the rear seat as the metal there is kind of shot and will eventually need to be replaced. Don't know if there is enough room with the vert roof mechanism though. Any other ideas for the rear seat?
As for the fronts, I was thinking putting them into the kick panels but have not pulled them yet to see if there is enough room behind them. I don't want to put them into the doors because the original door panels are still in good shape and the wires would have to be punched through the door jams. Don't know how they wouldsound though being so low. Any suggestions? I am going to put a modern radio in the glove box with the head unit in the car so I can see it.
I purchased the new upgraded SST system from Custom Autosound and mounted it under the dash below the steering column. It is not visible. I then put a Dual Voice Cone speaker under the dash. It fits the opening from the original center dash speaker. Then I mounted two Undercover II subwoofer/tweeter speakers "in" the back rest of the back seat. Gives "good vibrations" for any passengers but you cannot feel it in the back rest.
Controler for the system fits in the console storage.
Plenty of sound. Of course at 60mph with top down it has to be turned up pretty loud.
I left the original radio in the dash but disconnected.
I bought and installed my speakers in 2004, so the part numbers I used are likely obsolete. 5 1/4" round or 5 x 7 oval will fit this location, you need to find the absolute shallowest speaker you can, preferably with a non-paper cone. If you google Blaupunkt overdrive you will still find hits with technical specifications, if you can find a speaker under 2" in depth it should clear all moving parts.
Attached files should give you a better idea. This is a power top convertible.

All posters....Great ideas and they look fantastic. I have done some research but I must be doing it wrong as I could not find much to help me as much as these posts.
