I'm buying an entire new standard red interior for my 68 convertible, dash, assembled front and rear door panels, carpet armrests-everything. What is the best place to buy all this and it all match in color and who should i stay away from. Please anyone and everyone let me know ,i don't have time to buy the wrong stuff or swap out things to get the color to match. Thanks,Brandan
Ditto.. but teal interior. I have looked at Classic Industries (shipping unreasonable) , Auto obsession (better shipping prices), but small operation, and midlife motors (Epay store) (good feedback, but never heard of them)
I know Ames carries the kits too, but their catalog is kinda hard to read and determine what all you get.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure. I feel like I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe. 1968 400 convertible (Scarlet) 1976 T/A - 455 LE (No Burt) 1976 T/A New baby, starting full restoration. 1968 350 - 4 speed 'vert - 400 clone (the Beast!) 1968 350 convertible - Wife's car now- 400 clone (Aleutian Blue) (Blue Angel) 2008 Durango - DD 2008 GXP - New one from NH is AWESOME! 2017 Durango Citadel - Modern is nice! HEMI is amazing! 1998 Silverado Z71 - Father-daughter project 1968 400 coupe - R/A clone (Blue Pearl) (sold) 1967 326 convertible - Sold 1980 T/A SE Bandit - Sold
I would second NPD. I had good luck buying the parts for the FD rear seat from them. Ended up saving 25% over Classic's 20% "sale" by the time it was delivered. I was surprised at the time that Ames only carried some of the parts I needed. I went with NPD so I could buy everything in one place.
Thanks everyone, i ordered it all from classic with the 20% off and free shipping i got the whole interior for a decent price.I hope now it all comes in and the red is not five different shades.
I just bought mine today from Al Knock. Free shipping from TX.
Hope they are nice.
I almost purchased from NPD. Like Robert said, NPD was cheaper with their 'regular price' than Classic with their 20% off. But Al was cheaper yet, and free shipping to boot!

Yes, I think I remember that thread and the Knoch product was highly praised. The corvette seats I saw on the website looks awesome. Please take shots of your stuff so we can see it. Your blue interior is going to be awesome!

Um, I think you lost 4-5 months. I found a local N/M 400 coupe last October for a steal! Look at my signature photobucket under 'coupe'. I'm going to do a RA II clone.
Welcome back to reality, I didn't notice you were gone for a while

I received my red interior today and as i figured the dashpad and front and rear door panels are a dark red and the convertible rear armrest and well covers are a bright red.The carpet is even a brighter red than the carpet on the bottom of the assembled door panels. If anyone has pics of the correct color red interior in a 68 bird convertible and wouldn't mind sending them to me so i can figure out what i need to send back would be a HUGE help. Thanks! firediver103@yahoo.com
smokediver, With the '68 convertible 554 option custom interior, the dash pad is a dark red/ burgundy matching the zero-gloss burgundy upper dash (speaker area). Also on mine the original dash pad, door lock pulls, window cranks, sun visors, floor mats, dash assist handle and maybe a few other things are that same burgundy. See the colors for painted areas at: http://www.tcpglobal.com/aclchip.aspx?image=1968-pontiac-pg02.jpg
It has been 20+ years since I replaced carpet but if I recall, the original may have been somewhat darker than the stuff I put in. You can see some contrast with the door panel carpet in the picture below. I've been considering a second replacement because the current stuff is getting a light orange tint as it fades in the sun.
