I need to pick up a dipstick and dipstick tube for the 72 YH 455 and I'm having a hard time figuring out which one to pick up. On the Yearone.com site, there is an inner dipstick tube, lower dipstick tube, and upper dipstick tube. Which ones do I need to pick up?
There are also two length dipstick available, a 19" and a 31".

The inner is the one that you don't see from the outside and it goes through the windage tray. 65-71 47751N or 47740 for 72-74 that had the mounting bracket. Lower tube(presses into the outside of the block) for 66-74 is 47768N. Then if you have air conditioning you need extension 47774N. Stick 5013N(19") or 5014N(31") for air conditioning. These are Year One numbers. Jim
I did a x-reference over to the Ames catalog. Suggest we look over there. Inner (in pan) tubes run $19 vs $46 from Year One.

I didn't shop around. The ones that Year One has are GM. That could be the difference. I have bought these parts from different vendors and they fit but are not quite correct. It just depends on whether you are buying them for looks, function or both. Jim
The parts fraom AMES are GM as well. I have found that AMES carries the same stuff as Year One. Probably buy their stuff from same manufacturers. AMES just sells it for better price.
