can anyone help me id these heads? i cant find anything on the 3 6 on them....

Look at the center runners, below the 3 6. See the numbers 1 6...72cc, used on 1969 400 manual trans, other apps, high compression if untouched and installed on 400. Looks like date code is J017, so these would be a September 1970 (1971 model year) set. Should be close to same specs, though.

Those look like "16" heads. 2.11/1.77 72cc screw in studs. Good heads.

Funny thing is, I can't find #16s used on 1970-71 models...1968-69, and 73-74.

#16 heads were used on low compression 400 CID motors in 1970. Small valves, big chambers. J017 is September 1, 1967 for 1968 production.

so how is it a #16 if it was from the 68 model year? i was told by the seller that they were RAIII heads, but i didnt believe the guy.

the engine is also not original i should add, it was a 6cyl car, i found a date on the sunvisor saying that the 400 swap went down in mid 1983.

If the 6th digit from the end is a "6," then it was a 6-cylinder car from the factory.

the glove compartment even says 6cyl on a sticker.
