No. The subframes aren't "interchangeable". MAYBE, with some fairly extensive "rework" of both the body and subframe, but it seems like a LOT of work. But the steering box, stabilizer and brakes would make the effort well worth it. More choices for headers, too.
We did manage a '66 GTO some time back, with a '77 T/A subframe "spliced" into the original frame. A different "job", though, as the GTO has a full frame.
The 2nd Gens have better geometry characteristics in addition to the better box, larger bar, and disc brake. There seems to be some debate if the front steer 2nd gen is a benefit over the rear steer configuration of the 1st Gen.
I've heard it can be done with a lot of fabrication, but yet to come across any details on how it was done. Good luck.
