I miss Terry. His business card is still right in the front of the pack in my desk drawer. Still hard to think I can't just pick up the phone and call him.

I was just scrolling through my eBay account and came across my purchases from him, then I came here and saw this. Totally missed out on being a part of this hobby while he was around. I was still dealing with newborns and wondering if the Firebird was going to continue being a part of the family. Bless you Terry, for the mark you left on the world and this hobby.

Wow...

I remembered so long ago, to think it was 17, maybe 18 years ago he and I absolutely hated each other and it was quite evident on this board.

After a few years, I don't know what happened. Either his soft underbelly, or mine (or both) was exposed to the sunlight like flipped over tortoises on a deserted island...

We broke bread and became good friends even going so far as me inspecting parts for him in some far off place and he sending me parts without asking (for free). In fact, I believe I still have a yellow bubble lined envelope with his handwriting and return address somewhere in my cavernous garage with 21,768 other Firebird parts.

The morale of the story is this. When it's all said and done, we, you and I have to live with the outcome, the totality if you will of what we say, what we do, how we perceive each other. Life is short, it's a one-time shot. I was fortunate enough to be the "bearer" for Terry (69Firebirdman) of all the gifts, cards and thoughts you sent to my house to forward to his family. I can tell you on no uncertain terms that I was grateful and very moved by your contributions and I am very fortunate to have handled this for you and this First Gen site.

That being said, take one lesson away from this, especially in the climate we are in now. We are all brothers (and sisters) bonded by a common interest. A car. In my opinion, the coolest, best looking and most underrated car of the 60's. We all have bad days, bad months, some of us weren't properly socialized, potty trained, not taught to play well with others...

If Terry and I got past our differences, and we were bastards at times..anyone can.

Remember when he used to type in all caps? Now that I am older I'm not quite sure why but that used to really bug me. I was much more abrupt then and clashed with him more than once. After awhile you couldn't help but like and admire him for his total love and devotion to the cars that we love and his willingness to help when he could often going way out of his way as many have attested to on this Board.
