I am looking for a fully dressed sub frame for a 68 Coupe. Started pricing parts and repairs to mine and it adds up quickly. Hear is the biggest problem, I'm trying to find Local to Alberta, or Sask. in Canada.
Break out another $1000.

Hi, do you have some condition pictures? Is it drum set up or disc? Prefer disc. No word of a lie. A decent complete subframe from a wrecker up here is crazy prices. They want thousands +, getting a x body sub is alot cheaper. But I can't find anything in decent shape. I would be willing to handle shipping, and broker fees. If it is the set up I need I will go for it. I recently shipped my engine from Chicago for 275USD. No problems.
Break out another $1000.

Thanks man,
That would be a nice set up but the 79 I believe is a bit wider. I am not accoplished enough to make it work. I have read that it can be done. But.... not by me
Break out another $1000.

Yes, a 2nd gen subframe will not fit on a 1st Gen body shell. Besides 1st Gen Camaro frames working, so will 68 - 72 Nova's along with Apollos and Venturas.
Also be aware that you need to match lower control arms with subframes. The position of the lower bump stop is different for each year 67, 68, 69+
I have a subframe from a '68 Nova 4-door under mine.

I would buy 5 of them with everything on it for 225, all day long!
1969 Firebird 350 Coupe, Rust free Texas body, formerly brown, now a TA clone with quality spoiler, latching hood and TA wheel; 1969 GTO Convertible Expresso Brown/Parchment(currently painted red). Both numbers matching. My first love was a Cameo White 67 326 Coupe, bought back in 1983, at the age of 17, for $1,200. Been hooked since on PONTIAC! Working on a 67 400 ragtop for customization-Gulf Turquoise/Parchment/400/4 spd! My winter project!

Thanks, so would a 72 Nova 4 door be the same Sub frame? I have a line on a nice driver. Just want to be sure.

So how would lower control arms affect the stance, lower? with less tire clearance?

No. The problem is that the bump stop on the arm has to match up with the bump stop hitting space on the subframe or you will have problems.
For '67's the rubber stop is ON THE SUBFRAME
For '68's and '69's the rubber stop is on the CONTROL ARM. At the rear for '68 and at the front for '69.
If you get aftermarket controls arms, they come with multiple bump stop installation holes and fit all 3 years.
