Hello, I'm looking for some opinions to help me make a decision. I currently have a B&M 20413 Holeshot Torque Converters. It's stall is 3,000 RPM. I have a 400 motor with Crane Cams Energizer Cam & 6x heads. Per the website info on the cam it has 2600- 3000 cruise RPM. I think I need a lower stall speed torque converter.
I get figuring out the best fit is more complicated then this. I've not riped apart the rear so I'm not sure of the rear end gears. I just got the car a few months ago and I'm still learning about it.
Should I sell the torque converter and get a lower stall one? Or get a more aggressive cam to match the torque converter? I'm undecided. The car will mostly but use for street and see the strip on occasion.
I have a pretty aggressive torque converter behind my 490 hp 455. It was custom ordered by the guy that owned the trans shop next door to my engine builder.
The trans shop guy used to race a '68 Firebird Ram Air II.
My converter has a 2800 RPM stall speed which is right where the dyno said my torque curve peaked.
