...just dropping in a reminder for the event. I think we are around
the 30 ,mark far as commitments. We had 13 'birds at our house a few
weeks ago, surely we can at least double that for a National meet,

its about 70 mi north-north-west of San Antonio, 80 miles west of Austin , or 230 miles west of Houston...in the "hill country"

Road trip!

would love to go to one of these. We aren't ready to put that kinda mileage on the bird just yet though. Perhaps if one was held on the West coast in the future

Na, I would not drive down that far, I was referring to winging in to Houston and road trip from there....

yup, fly in to Houston , ride with HALF to F-burg....I`ll probably be alone in my car....I`ll be back from Provence tuesday before the friday afternoon drive to F-burg,...not much difference in time from flying in here, then wait for another flight ,and then get a rent car.....

Thinking about it for sure! Flight out of Seattles about $475 return.

I know...been there a few times...then I usually try to visit w Brett and his crew!

and $475 isnt bad , I spent $550 in gas alone going to Estes Park last year...then there was hotels , meals...beer...lol

The 1,020 mile drive to Estes was part of the fun of the event last year. It had a steady stream of people "commenting". One of my favorite stories:

It was near the Sturgis rally date so there was a steady stream of bikes also on the road, many passing us. While I was enjoying watching the Harleys, they frequently checked the Bird out, nodded or did a thumbs-up. The most memorable was a biker who moved his bike over in the lane to get close so he could yell in "nice car" in the open window.

Each gas stop had at least one other customer come over to talk about the car and their Firebird they once and wish they still had, the classic they have now, or "is that a 196x?"

Finally, the trip to Estes was it's return there after decades so there was nostalgia about the whole ride.
