1) overflow jug wasnt part of the fgfs set up....but as I wanted two things A) not to spew on my driveway (pets) and B) know how much it spewded out if it did.
2)I installed one anyway, bought from Year One.....installed it where my w/s fluid bottle was ,then welded the w/s fluid bottle bracket to the overflow bracket...ran the overflow line in the crevice between radiator and rad. frame (pics from before I changed radiator and cleaned up from the polishing) 3rd pic shows w/s fluid bracket by itself welded on to the overflow bracket...it leans in ,reason is that way I can pull it out w/o removing the fender brace
I used one similiar to what Bjorn has, but installed on the passenger side on the front side of the rad support. Modified the bracket so it could be attached with an existing bolt and hole. With the filler panel in place you can't tell you have one...just the telltale sign of the hose from the radiator neck. Let me know if you want me to take a pic.
There's not a lot of room anywhere on a FGF, including the engine compartment. I had an overflow jug on the outside of core support but it looked like crap through the grill. Then I saw somebody else using their washer jug and it looked like a good idea. The cap is already set up with a tube that goes to the bottom. And I never plan to squirt windshield juice all over my car anyway.
I bought a tall thin tank from Napa auto parts & mounted it next to the radiator on the driver side & the ran the hose along the bottom of the radiator & up to the radiator cap. It looks ok for what it is. I can post pics if you like.
I bought a universal tank from car quest, has 2 different hook ups at the bottom so you can mount it where you need to, and has the overflow connector at the top, cost was 18 and some change, worked out great
Well it sounds like I have plenty of options but I really like the one I posted in the pic.
I did figure out that the overflow tank in the picture I posted was from a 1975 Nova. Not sure if they are the same though 1979.
They will fit a Camaro as I saw a pic of one on the team camaro site.
The issue is they don't make them in the aftermarket and I spent an hour looking for one on line and found nothing. Nothing on ebay or craigslist or racingjunk or google. I don't need it today so I will just keep my eyes open.
I would be lucky to find any cars from the 80s in the junk yards here.
