I purchased a fuel line pre-bent (goes from tank to fuel pump) and am not having a lot of fun getting it in place. Does the line have to go in prior to the front frame being installed? The way the line is going it looks like it should be under the front sub frame on the passenger side. How Do I get this installed? I already have the front frame on with the motor in. How do I do this?
Oh I second that for the second time in a week the lines, Brake and Fuel are a PITA. I ended up pulling the motor then saw the nasty dirty sub frame so pulled that then started cleaning and painting and replacing and....it's still on stands. First summer off the road in years...sad. But it's lookin good.
The line is Two pieces aleady there is one short rubber hose that runs across the subframe to pick up the line that runs to the pump. That's the 2 foot of fun when the engine is in.
I can't get the long line to fit. Havent messed with the short one yet. The only thing I can think of is the line goes between the subframe and the body jsut after rear frame mount. If that is the case I would have to losen the rear sub frame mount and slide the line past that point. Does this make sense?
does anyone have a stock 68 that could provide a picture on how the line runs near the pasenger side door near the rear frame mount?
What about just cutting the line, putting a rubber splice in and calling it good? I am not up to pulling the dang thing apart again.
That is exactly what I did. It won't look bad if you splice it in the right place. I did mine right where the line goes under the firewall. Looks fine.
Dumb fuel lines caused me to competely change my original restoration plan to rebuild the rear suspension after the subframe and front suspension was back on.
I realised I could not clean and refinish the bottom of the rear floor and trunk pans with the lines on!

Would it work to unbolt the rear subframe mount on the pasnger side and then lower car enough to slide the line through and then bolt it up again? Would like to keep it in one peice if I could.
