I have a 67 Firebird that came with PB and 4 piston calipers. The calipers have been nothing but a headache and I want to change to a single piston system. I am hoping I don’t need all the parts that come with a conversion kit from drum to disk, which costs around $500. I am ready have a power master cylinder and the rest. Is there anyone that knows if it can be done and what parts I need? Thanks for any help.
Actually with your question still in my mind - I was flipping through a Rick's Camaro's sales catalog the other day.
1) It appears they have more limited (and cheaper) brake kits for just this situation.
2) They will sell you NEW 4 piston calipers.
3) They have a service to resleeve original 4 piston calipers which make them more reliable.

69-72 A-body calipers, caliper mounting brackets, hoses, and rotors. Remove the one arm that holds the 4 piston caliper, and the A-body stuff bolts on. May want to replace the combo valves with a 69-72 A-body one too. The secondary vlv wasnt the best idea Pontiac had.
I have heard that the 10.5 inch rotors that originally came with the 4 piston set ups will work no problem, with 14 inch rally wheels. I just converted my all drum 67 to front disc, single caliper style, and it came with 11 inch rotors. I mocked up one side, and the 14 inch rally cleared the caliper, but not by much, were talking 1/8 inch or so.....but there was no rubbing. It all depends on the wheel, and whether it was a factory disc wheel or not....

After your call started think'n which 14's did or didnt fit. Almost certain 14x7's do, but not sure about 14x6's. Have 3-4 differnt 14's. Try'n check'm on mine either 2nite or 2maro.
