ok, so I'm still new to the whole collector car thing. I've always changed the fluids in my cars at regular intervals, but now that I have the firebird, that only sees weekend seasonal driving, I'm not sure what would be the best intervals to keep the original drivetrain running it's best.
How often do you change: engine oil Transmission coolant dif
Lot of varibles. How long are drives? Round town. Highway. Or both?
Mine only got about 200 miles a year the last 5. Several are 1/4 mile at a time. Start it up every 2-3 wks during winter. Even though looks fine, i change oil once a yr. Trans hasnt been touched. Cant have coolant at track, so swap out water every fall. Coolants 3 yrs old and looks/smells fine.
I generally change the oil once a year. My '67 sees 800-1100 miles per year. My '68 sees around 200 miles per year.
All the others I usually go about five years. +/-

I change oil ev 6 mo or 3000 miles whichever is first....only got to 3k in 6 mo once....so basically every 6 month....tranny , ev 5 yrs. coolant ev 5 yrs if it looks good.
We do a mix of city and highway driving, likely 500-700 miles a year. Don't want to turn the odometer up too quickly.
I'm thinking an oil change each spring will be good with other fluids every 3-5 years. This is what I had figured would be good, but it's good to hear others use the same sort of routine. We keep it running in the winter and warm it up at least once a month, and go for a short drive if conditions allow.
I used to change oil about every 1k. Now it's 3x a year, at bedtime, shortly after wake-up, mid season, and again at bedtime. It has nothing to do with mileage. But when you are running the crap out of a 300k mile engine, it's the cheapest maintinance you can buy.
Partial tranny fluid change once a year. (I still eat up a th350 every 100k, so I wonder if it make a difference.)
I go fairly long on coolant changes, and I cannot understand how all these engines load up with all the rust. Using only distilled water might make a difference.
Repack wheel bearings once a year, syphon off some p/s fluid yearly, and change axle grease every couple of years.
One fluid that is overlooked by everyone is brake fluid. I flush the brake fluid 2x a year, sometimes 3, but I'm a real @$$hole when it comes to brakes, so it has to be overkill.
Oh, and for you 'vert owners, don't forget to change the fluid in your cocktail shakers at least once per season.
