Tried to take my '68 bird for a ride today. Got to the end of my driveway when the engine quit. Had trouble starting it back up and when I finally did get it started again, the engine would only run for about a minute or two before dying again.
Any fuel in the bowl when it quits? Remove the air cleaner lid and manually move the throttle lever to see if the fuel sprays from the nozzles. If not, you probably have a sticking needle/seat or a sinking float.

That may make sense. Occasionally, especially in colder weather, the car will act fine until I hit 45 mph and then sputter, which could be the same issue...
I had this same issue a while back with a Holley carb I was running, and turned out it was a stuck needle and seat, flooding over into the carb out of the vent tube...I tapped it with a small hammer to get it home, then changed the needle and seat on the primary side.

Hmmmm....now the car tends to stall out at idle while in gear...ok while driving down the road, but at a stoplight or tring to slowly drive into the garage, it stalls.
That's right about spec., but you should double check it with a timing light with tach feature or multi-meter with tach feature to make sure. Also, is this stalling a new symptom since the coil/points replace...if so have that work double checked by the mechanic who did it. What carb are you running?
