I just bought a new gas tank for my 67 convert. It is zinc coated and wonder if it should be painted. If so what color? My original is mostly a medium dark grey with some red overspray. Leave it bright zinc or paint? Thanks, Steve
I was lucky and got a NOS tank for my 65 wagon. It was a little marked up some surface rust. Wiped it with Eastwood afterblast and looks great. It puts on a zinc coating enabling the top coat.
Not sure on whether to paint it or not now. Thanks Bjorn!

I clearcoated my new tank before installation. They were neither painted nor clearcoated from the factory but I would like the fresh look to last a while.

Thanks to you all, That makes it easy - I'll put it in unpainted. The medium dark grey on the bottom of the original tank must be primer overspray. -Steve
