Ok Thanks guys. Been 150 years since I took mine out. Lost all my wedges. Found a set of 4 on ebay. Wanted to make sure all three had them. Makes sence when you think about it though.
Honest dad, that 455 on the side of the block is a serial number
Pretty sure it only gets 1 wedge and goes on the back bolt. Maybe 67 is different than 68, but my 68 only has one and the GM steering wheel schematics only show 1 installed.
OK, I figured out where I goofed. I was picturing in my mind the 2nd Gen F body steering column bracket.
It has 3 pot metal slotted holes that slide into support bracket. One was broken on my '80 T/A and I was remembering how I needed to have 3 of them. It took me a long time to put together a complete set.
My bad.

I always assumed it was due to the column being at an angle and the bolts being straight up and down. Makes up the angular difference to give a flat solid surface to bolt up to.
Yellowbird - Thanks for the info...

If your rag joint is old, don't strain it by pulling the column down or it may tear. There is also a seal plate behind the plastic carpet guard that will give you a little more room to drop if you want to remove a few more screws.
