Ok, just to be clear, I'm not posting looking for one, I need to know WHAT to buy. I have a 1967 Firebird 326HO. Originally supplied with Power Steering. During my Resto-mod, the Power Steering Pump was either misplaced, or tossed, so I need to get a new one. I do not have the pump/tank or pulley. I have replaced the steering box with an after=market, Flaming River, quick ratio box. The box has the 18mm and 16mm O-ring fittings which I assume are typical, later model fittings. I see that Power Steering Pumps range from the original, SAE type fitting to a newer 16mm O-ring style connector for the pressure side. After a lot of reading, it seems that many prefer a later style (not type II) box, I think post-1973.
My question. Which pumps can I put on that will bolt up to my existing brackets? Cash wise is limiting me to staying with the combo pump/tank style. Fittings won't matter as I'm going to piece together the hoses anyways. Of course, I will also need a pulley. My engine is using the 1967 style timing cover and other brackets, not the later style.
Figured I might as well ask the pros at this point.
Honestly, as this 'bird is not being restored as a "Wine and Cheese Crowd" piece, original is not required. At this point I'm looking at the rebuilds that range from 50 to 100. Plus, I am SO over restoring parts, would be nice to get something out of the box. Again, I'm wondering about mounting points matching up etc... Am almost leaning towards a type II, but have no idea about themounting points.
You will need to find the PS enclosure used or in your case at least a whole pump with the pulley first. I think they are called a banjo pump by some. Rebuilt pumps can be purchased most anywhere. You may want to look at an AGR pump to go with the neew steering box.
Do you have the 2 metal brackets that would bolt to the pump and the long bolt that are typicly attached?
Ebay might be your best bet but I would guess some around here might have what you need.
I'm pretty sure I have all the original brackets and long bolt. During dis-assembly I made sure to get ALL peripheral mounting brackets, plates, etc. to powder coat all at one time. (Surely to be another puzzle, figuring out what went where.)
I guess what I'm asking is will a later style, say 73 and up pre Type II, pump and tank bolt up? I have heard many different opinions from "Everything is the same except the pulley" to "You need to re-clock the pump". (I understand clock positions, but is this even possible with a PS pump?).
I had wine and cheese last night. Given the fellow patrons I plan on having wine and cheese more often.

I hate to say this, but the purchase of the later style steering box that has metric fittings has started you on a ugly path.
There are several firms out there that sell fast ratio steering units that work the the '67 pumps, which fit the '67 brackets, which bolt the the '67 block and heads...
You might want to consider backing up and getting another steering box and selling the Flaming River one.

I know this is old, but for information purpose. I purchased an adapter kit from Lee Performance. WOW! No ugle adapter fittings. They went in very easy and you can not even tell there is a conversion. Plus, you use standard, off the shelf hoses.
