My car has a 4.11 posi rear end. The part was added by a previous owner. Now a guy I know wants it for his 69 camaro. He is offering an open rear replacement and cash.
My car is a driver and I don't need a steep posi rear end. What is the value of the part?
Need some more information. Is it an original 8.2 BOP rear with mono-spring perches specific to a '67?
And being a 4.11 rear, is it made of nodular iron (signified by the capital "N" embossed on top of the center section just behind the pinion)?
Or is it just some generic rear that somebody put a 4.11 gear set into?

A first gen multi-leaf 12 bolt is quite uncommon, bordering on rare. If I remember correctly, they only came in '70-'71 big block Novas. How much cash is he offering? Did he approach you? I wouldn't be surprised to see a complete set-up like yours go for around $1000 on Ebay. If you're thinking of taking his offer, maybe you could offer it to the guys here first for the same price.
Besides Nova's, I though 12-bolt's were standard for big block 1st Gen Camaro's, too?
Still, they are indeed hard to find these days.

Chevy 12 bolt rearends were installed in 67-69 Camaro's with all Hipo packages and mandatory for Z-28. And they could be special ordered on any Camaro. They fit into firebirds with only a U-joint change and the Firebird rearend will fit in the Camaro with the U-joint change. It will fit 67-69 Camaro and 66-67 Nova. The 70 and up Camaro rearend is about an inch or two wider. The 67-69 rearends bring very high dollar espicaly if it is a true 4 series possi and not a 3 series with a spacer. Like the others have said, it should be worth around $1500-$2000 and his open rearend. Unless he is a good freind. Then what ever you feel comfortable with.
i sold a 69 camaro 12 bolt carrier with no axles or guts for 275.00 to a buddy of mine.the only thing they are good for is a car that it came with originally or the race track.not necessary for street use.
67 and earlier Nova's had a shorter rear. 68-79 Nova same as 1st gen Camaro. 68-71 Novas also used the 12 bolt for 350 and big-block. The following is a very good source for Nova axle info.
