Hello, its starting to get cold here in michigan. at some point it will be time to put the bird away for the winter. What do you recommend i do to the engine ? should i start it periodically throughout the winter to get fresher fuel flowing through the carb and oil throughout the engine (put stabil in it?) ? or is it better to just let it sit for 3 months without starting it ? i'm concerned about the gas going sour and gumming up the carb. what do you all do ? thanks

All i do is put stabil in the gas(full tank),let it run to get the stabil thru the system and park it. I don't start it until spring.Of course there is other things-disconnecting battery, rodent control ,good waxing etc.

Stabil or Seafoam in the tank, take it for a drive to get it into the carb.

Disconnect the battery, air up the tires. I use rubber stall mats from Tractor Supply under the entire car, corner to corner, to keep the moisture off the undercarriage.

I like to run a floor level fan in the garage late in the fall and early in the spring when the moisture is condensing daily to help keep it from sitting under the car. I also wash the car a few drives before putting it away, use a very high quality cover, and do an oil change.

Winter prep in FL:

Fill the tank and attend car shows and cruise nights all winter long. The best car shows in FL are just about to start and all of the larger cruise nights are now back in action now that the super high temps are beginning to cool off a bit and the snow birds have returned south for the winter!

I understood the full tank prevents condensation. I do all the same as Vicki except park on sheets of plywood and put socks in the exhaust. Is it really that time already!!!!

I still have another 6 weeks that should have some good days in it.

Changing the oil gets the old oil with the acids and deposits in it out and fresh clean oil in. I`ll do that in late October.

Add fuel stabilizer to a full tank of gas. The purpose of a full tank is to keep the surfaces of the tank wet with oil (in this case fuel) so it does not rust or get coated with "varnish".
