First, do you have the PHS report? If not, then get one on your car. That will tell you everything you need to know to have one reproduced and I recommend AG Backeast to make the tag. There is rather limited info on those tags that year, even more so on a 68. In any event you can have a tag made to replace it but you first must spend the 50 bucks and get your PHS report for your car. Good luck.
1969 Firebird 350 Coupe, Rust free Texas body, formerly brown, now a TA clone with quality spoiler, latching hood and TA wheel; 1969 GTO Convertible Expresso Brown/Parchment(currently painted red). Both numbers matching. My first love was a Cameo White 67 326 Coupe, bought back in 1983, at the age of 17, for $1,200. Been hooked since on PONTIAC! Working on a 67 400 ragtop for customization-Gulf Turquoise/Parchment/400/4 spd! My winter project!
Thanks for all the info guys. This is my first firebird and restoration project, so i appreciate all the help. I havce a very beat up car, but hopefully it will turn out nice someday.

how do you do that without the body tag? I though that was the info you used to get your PHS?
Check the vin number in the corner of the dash, see if it matches your title and check the stamped number under the cowl. Refer to the link I already sent you as i beleive there are a few pictures in that post that show where the number is. Thanks

I clicked and read everything in the post. The vin number in the dash reads the same as in the title. but i'm unable to see the numbers under the cowl. it looks like they arent there at all. i seen the pictures where they should be but it looks like mine isn't there at all. i really didnt know what to look for when i got the car. i should have read and talked to you guys first. The only thing i made sure was that the vin was the same on the title and car... thinking how could it be stolen...
A lot of times when a car is painted it is possible the paint could be thick and fill in the numbers. pull the top of the cowl off and get a wire brush or wheel. Also it is possible the whole firewall has been replaced. never the less the only thing PHS really needs is the VIN number and they can get you the info. Unless you are me. I ended up buying a different car and PHS has no record of it!

This car is full of paint and bondo. Around the heater core it does look it has been tampered with.... I'll pull it off tomorrow and I'll keep you posted. Any idea why they didn't have a PHS on it?
PHS is working from manual files and microfiches of data from 40+ years ago. Some of it isn't where it should be and can't be found.

I just got in from cleaning it and trying to figure out what the numbers were... but they DO match the numbers on the dash... SO from here I guess i need a PHS report?
