I remember reading somewhere that the 68 Firebird was listed as a 6 seater if it had the optional bench front seat. Does anyone know if or what they used for a seatbelt for the middle front passenger? I'm guessing they used a back seat belt.
Any opinions on the quality of the reproduction seat belts that are out there?
my guess is also they used a middle rear seat belt for the middle front.... we once had a 61 Dodge Lancer,it was a 6 seater...but i dont even recall any seat blets in it? must have had them though?
I don't think lapbelts were mandated until 1963 or 64 and I believe shoulder belts weren't mandated until later. My car has none, which makes me wonder about all of it. I'm guessing one of the previous owners was not a fan and took them out. Question for all of you '68 coupe owners. Do your cars have lap belts only or lap and shoulder belts?
My 67 has a front bench with a lap belt in the middle. The belts bolt to the tunnel

It's been a while since I took them off..... I think they do. I don't remember there being seperate bolts. SO, final answer, Yes they do.

I pulled the bench out of mine a while ago but now have the interior out of that car. I will look at the belts and see. I thought it boltes to either side of the tunnel using the same holes.
