What is the correct length my speedometer cable should be for a 68 convertible 400 with 400 trans. I need a new one and have no reference as to what length is correct. Thanks!
i think they only had 2 lengths for the trans 60" and 80" i have a spare short one kicking around. I'll measure it today. it had a 301 in it with a turbo 350 trans. i think the 400 speedo pick up is farther back so you may need the longer one.
I just measured it , its 60" in length. i instaled a 200-4r and its too short by 4 inches as the speedo connection is also back more on the 200-4r trans. ans u can get them at autozone for cheap money.
I am at this point on my resto. and need to know what length goes on my 67 vert. with saginaw 4 sp. 455. It did not have one when I got it. Also what does it mean when they say upper or lower on the cable? EB

there are two cables if you have cruise control. i would think you would use the 60" cable . a quick check would be if you have some excess tubing or fuel hose and run it in place to see if it reaches.
I went a bought the 61" at Autozone and it does not have a screw on end on the speedo end. It shows that it is the right one but is is not. The one I bought has a bell shaped end on it with no way to hold it on. Still wondering??? EB
Thanks to all I just went to AutoZone and bought the 63 inch cable, they actually had it on the shelf. They tried to give me the 60 or 61 as well but i told them it had the wrong end. I walked in the back and hanging next to it was the 63 inch for $6.50.
