I just removed my transmission, and noticed that the engine pivots A LOT front-to-back, and I just replaced the motor mounts. Is this normal? or did I get crappy motor mounts? Is the cross member supposed to take all of the torque transferred from the engine?

Yeah, without the transmission you can tilt the engine easily. The engine mounts alone do not handle that load, only with the tranny mount in place.

Put a block of wood between engine and fire wall to keep it in place.

Just seems like there is a lot of movement, and I was kind of skeptical, since the mounts had "made in Taiwan" on them. It's hard to get good quality products.
