This is a word of warning, 2-3 winters ago i replaced the clutch in my 1967 400. When i did this i installed a timken roller pilot bearing(good idea right?)wrong move!!! I just recently pulled the engine/trans assy to fix some oil leaks and i almost thought i was going to have to cut the trans input shaft off to get the two seperated. Even though i had used plenty off lube(probably to much)when i assembled the clutch job, the pilot bearing had rusted itself to the input shaft. The only way that i was able to get them apart was working through the clutch lever opening i unbolted the pressure plate from the flywheel one bolt at a time and with a couple of large pry bars and a lot of force i was able to get the bearing to pop out of the crankshaft. Then i bent the bolts on my puller getting the bearing off the end of the input shaft. So from now on its bronze bushings for this guy. Just thought you guys should know. Thanks Phil.
Good advice. Just make sure you have a REAL bronze bushing. A lot of them are a mix of bronze and steel now. They wear the input shafts pretty quick. A magnet should not stick to one.
