I have owned my 69 firebird 16 years and only driven it around at my house. Now car is almost ready for the road after i replace top. My car is a 400 Firebird conv. Over the years i checked the vin on lower ft. of engine and it matches the vin on dash. Cowl tag matches paint color, interior color and has 22367. Hidden vins match vin on dash but dash vin has 22337 which designates it as a coupe. I never knew that until someone told me a few days ago. I am not sure but does the body code 37 or 67 always match on the cowl tag and dash vin. If so could it be a factory mistake. I talked to phs and they say they can maybe tell using the last part of vin number. Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Get the PHS docs for that VIN for starters. Trace your VIN no. back as far as you can (original bill of sale, pink cards, previous owner. You know where both hidden VINs are? Is you engine nos. matching? Did you match the VIN on the engine?
Do you have a rare 69 car other than a 400 vert?

Yes both hidden vins match but the one at heater and ac box I can only see 3 digits but matches I will do phs This is the only old car I have The vin on engine matches last four digits of dash vin.
How early of a build do you have? The earlier the build, the more prone for mistakes. My 9 is an early bulid with numerous mistakes.
For instance, note the position of the horn relay. It's installed upside down. We had a know-it-all whistlebritches a few years back who blew it out of the water, claiming that someone had to have changed it because it would have never come from the factory that way.
The week after he hosed me, he posted a picture of a 9 t/a claiming it was the global benchmark for a exact correct build. He used the picture to as research on something else. Right there in the corner, just like mine, the horn relay was installed upside down. I might potty mouth back on occasion, but I usually let it rest. Because he was such a dick--worse than me!--I called him out a half dozen times, but I guess selective reading came into play.
It's my opinion that PHS is merely a guide for direction, and there are a hell of a lot of mistakes in their information.
nice pic,I feel the same with phs. What If it was a factory mistake and went undocumented my 69 will come back from phs as coupe and not convertible and now we have another mistake.
