Help! I am in need of some photos for the factory routing of the heater hoses on a air conditioning car. In particular, how the hose routes to the water pump housing around/through the AC bracket. I have new hoses and need to cut them to length but want to be sure they are routed correctly before I cut. Also how they are fastened to the inner wheel well.
I looked in the manual but they only show without air in the heater section and a 69 with air. I need the 68 installation. I have been looking on ebay and some other sites at cars for sale to see if I can find the correct routing. Any help is much appreciated!!
I think the A/C cars ran the hose through a clip on the fender and the non-A/C cars used the bracket attached to the head...the pic shows both ways, but there are'nt 2 hoses from the waterpump...illustration purposes maybe????
Don't know if all things are the same for a 68, but Vicki's library has the 67 "Service Manual Supplement" which has a diagram of the heater hose routing (in the "Custom Air Conditioner" chapter)
WITH YOUR HELP !, trying to put back together a factory 1967 convertible 400/TH400, softray glass, pw, ps, pb, ac, console, clock, safeguard speedo, remote and visor mirror(s), hood and trunk lamps, and custom trim options.(Rally II rims and hood tach had been added). THANK YOU ALL for any help, opinions, and/or advice. I'M GONNA NEED IT !
Mine is routed along the wheel well/inner fender next to the AC muffler. While I too believe the clip on the well may be used on AC '68s to secure the hoses, I don't recall mine ever having one. I bought one once but found out that there was not enough clearance between the AC and the well for it.
I bought one too. It holds both hoses aft of the muffler. I found a hole in the well for it but the bolt provided with the clamp is to large in diameter. Of course it is repro so who knows if it is correct. Thanks for the picture. How does the aft hose route? in front of the suitcase and under the expansion valve? Do you have a plastic strap on the bracket that holds the POA? I was thinking maybe the Aft hose goes through it. It is the same style that holds the positive cable to the frame but a much larger loop.
I am unfamiliar with the plastic strap that you mention. It may be factory but through my daily driver years it may have vanished. I will start looking for an original example. I can only assume that when my hoses were replaced a couple times over the years, I routed them as I found them.
