Hi to all on FGF members.
I would like to know if their are any Pontiac or Firebird clubs in the Chicagoland area. I am newer to owning Firebirds (two first gens for time being) and need to learn more on what and how to fix em up without breaking the budget. I am not a mechanic and only have my two years of auto shop from Gordon Tech High School plus my 214 piece Craftsman tool kit form Sears. My first car when I was 16 years old was a 67 GTO red with a black vinyl top which I had paid $2200 in 1985. It was two powerful for me and wrecked it twice over the next two years since owning it. Now that I am 43 years old I want to re - live those great times but more responsibly. I think day and night about fixing up my cars but need some guidance. I do talk to some people I meet with about my cars, but find it wanting. I also am a family man so I have to have balance with time and money. So here I am, and I love this web site.

Welcome Mark!
There are a lot of experienced guys and gals on this site that can help you through most issues you come up with. I started somewhat the same as you but in 81' /w Craftsman tools but no HS shop training. You can pretty much do what you put your mind to.
What cars do you have now?

Mark, I would suggest you join the Cruisin Tigers GTO club. It's a Chicago based club with many Firebird owners, or more so that the name appears. Many guys own GTO's AND Firebirds.
Anyway, I am a member and also there is the National POCI event this year in St. Charles and the Pheasant Run resort. It is being put on with the Cruisin Tigers group and is 5 days worth of fun. You should go to the POCI club website and download the brochure. POCI is the Pontiac Oakland Club International, if you didn't already know that.
I have a 69 vert, but its on a rotisserie and I have a long restoration in progress. There are a few of us in the Chicago area as well.

I would like to see if we could create a Chicago Area FGF Club. I will start a new post on this today and see wht kind of interest we can generate to get it off the ground. I live in the Palatine area.
