Hey all, I had such good luck last time I figured i would try again to get some help. I need many pix of a 69 only lower A/C baffle that goes from the lower valance back and the front "spoiler" mounts to. I know they have repops but they are crap. I have seen 2 different repops one plastic and one fiberglass, as I said crap. I am making my own out of sheet metal and I need some pix of a factory one from under the car (both close up and wide angle and from the front and back) as well as from the top, down in front of the radiator core support area. I could also use some measurements like how far past the core support towards the engine it extends. I know this is asking a lot but all I can find on this site, and the rest of the web, is pix of the 67 & 68 version and they are very different from the 69. Better yet if someone has one for sale that would work too! Any help would be great and thanks in advance!

actually not much difference from the 67,68s...just the ends are.... I was trying to have some made a few yrs ago, in metal, as the fiberglass etc arent very good...metal fabricator quoted me $10,000 for the die....it would take quite a few sales to make up for that investment....but if you eliminate some of the bends and creases ,it may be ok to make your own...maybe even get a 67,68 and add in the end pieces that you could make?
From everything I have seen it is a bit more than just the ends. The depth is different as well. Yes getting the stamped sections would be difficult. The side to side bends I am going to do on my brake press. I was able to trace the outside of a repop to give me a starting point but would like to get some pix of the real thing to help me a long, if ya know what I mean.

yes the 68 is quite abit different, I have had both and the 68 looked nothing similar to the 69. They are on e-bay time to time but not cheap i got $300 out of my 68 one. I can get you the pics of a 69 one out of the car if you need, I have one out now. Let me know

Those 69 ones do pop up every once in a while, The do get expensive, I sold my last one to Seth... Wonder if he put it on yet? I'll keep an eye open for you, i found three of them for each of my cars, and an extra for Seth they are out there.. Ron

this is why I'm thinking of going repop on the second car. I have a nice original one on my coupe.

The pan is also part of the 400 option, not just a/c cars. I just so happen to have one ratteling around, for photo purposes only because it'll be going back on my car.
They are very basic as for shape and--rather than that overpriced, super-ugly shinny chit that looks like socks on a rooster--an average fabricator sould be able to make one that even the best expert could not tell from an origional.
If I feel like it and/or get around to it (gots my own pos to work on) I'll try to get enough detailed shots so that you have a good visual of critical areas.
I have not seen one for sale and I have been looking daily for just a little over a year. Every morning I get my cup of coffee and go trolling. I have watched e-bay, C.L., Amazon, Hemmings, I have even asked Potomac to keep an eye out. This is why I have decided to make one. So pix from anyone would help a ton.

It actually went to Classic Industries restoration dept. back a couple of years ago, I found it in a parts car I bought that was rear ended in the mid 70's, the part was perfect and I probably should have gotten more

Thanks a ton they helped a lot. The one I make is not as complicated but will do the job. I have already got it cut and shaped to fit the valance and now I can start to mark for the bends. Thanks again!!!!!!!!

Now I have a question regarding this same pan...I have a 1968 400 that came with it (or one very very similar). Mine was badly beat/bent/twisted/rusted/dented. After seeing that the repops were fiberglass instead of sheetmetal, and seeing the prices, and then this post of it being a possible rarity, I decided to straighten and restore what I have and reinstall. And it now looks really good!
My only question is how exactly do I attach it correctly to the car? This is probably the 3rd resto on this car, and the last guy to attach this pan used a random cocktail of nuts/bolts/washers from his coffee can. I think I used 4 different wrench sizes to remove it, including a pair of metrics LOL. So at the VERY least I will go to the hardware store and make all the fasteners the same, and SAE! But does anyone know if these were factory-attached with cage nuts/clips? If yes were the cage nuts on the holes of the valence (which means they need to be bolted from the inside and threads would point down out of the bottom of the valence...doesn't seem right), or were the cage-nuts somehow in the u-slots of the baffle (see the last photo immediately above from Amervo)?
Or...were they actually just thru-bolted with loose nuts/bolts/washers/lock washers, as I had removed from my car?
Any insight is appreciated! Of if someone knows of a repro attaching hardware kit for this piece I'd be curious what they provide...
And discovered that the previous guy to assemble this machine incorrectly tucked this pan up under the valance, causing my confusion with cage nut/bolt orientation...
I now see it just mounts up flush to the bottom of the car, and the cage nuts actually clip to the holes in the valance, which makes a lot more sense! My mystery is solved!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After I made one of these I got a call back from a guy i called about it 6 months ago and he had found one in ok shape (dime sized rip in the lower section all metal still present though) for $100 shipped so I grabbed it while I could and now I will use it to try to make one closer to the real thing and will see how it turns out and might sell them since only f-glass ones are out there now. Thanks to all who helped me out with the pix and measurements!!!!!!
