I have my rebuilt original 1969 350 Pontiac engine sitting in the floor with new motor mounts attached. I have the 7/16" X 7" bolts in the motor mounts. My question is, what do the brackets look like that the 7" bolts attach to? Mine seem to be missing and I can't find a pic of them anywhere. Engine was out of the car when I bought it. Does anyone have a pic of the engine bay showing these brackets? Thanks.
There are mostly three bolts that hold the motor mount to the motor and the one bolt that goes throuhg the frame bracket into the center of the mount that secures it to the car. I think that one center bolt is probably only around an inch and a half long. Not sure where a 7" bolt would go.
Thanks for sticking up for me Sprint! The mounts on my GTO have a long bolt that goes through two holes in the motor mount bracket to secure the engine to the frame mounts.
Thanks everyone. Sprint had it right, The parts store gave me the wrong motor mounts. I took them back today and ordered the ones in Mushroombert's reply. You guys are the best! Stay tuned, I know I will need more help along the way.
I hate to necro an old thread, but are the '68 motor mounts the same on each side?
Searches seem to return Left/Right but misidentify the later model with the bolts through the frame as correct for '68. Where the searches show the single through bolt, it shows that they're the same for left and right. However......the image on page 1 of this thread (mushroom?) shows the correct style mount with stickers indicating 'Driver' and 'Passenger'. Thoughts?
The better, correct motor mounts out there come from Mitty and are labeled passenger and drivers side for some reason. I could not really tell the difference but I mounted them as labeled anyway. The cheaper overseas mounts are not labeled and appear to be interchangeable.
