I own a 67 firebird 400 convertible and wonder how many convertibles were 400 ???

According to PHS info in my doc package; 82,560 total '67s were made. 15,528 were converts. Of those 2,641 had 6 cyl, 9,229 had 326s, and 3,658 had 400s.

To further help with your breakdown: Fred Simmons informed me that there were 557 "Sprint 6" convertibles in 67. (So 2641-557 Sprints= 2084 base OHC 6's) Wouldn't be cool to have the other breakdowns? Does anyone have the 326 and 400 breakdowns?

Was there a code for the sprint 6? How can you tell if you have one?

I do not think that there is a code on the trim tag to indicate a "Sprint" OHC 6. (4bbl version) The VIN shows V8 or OHC 6 only. The only way to tell for sure is get the PHS info.

No. The Camaro used the Chevy OHV-6 - a pooch rod motor. The OHC-6 was a Pontiac ONLY motor. It was unlike any other domestic motor the time.

And was the basis for countless engines that followed it. Any engine that uses a neoprene timing belt owes a lot to Pontiac for their pioneering work. Truly an engineering milestone!
