Ok i went to take pictures of my carb setup for another post i made, figured i would take pictures of another one of my problems. Im wondering if i have the wrong front fenders (camaro maybe). I have big gaps between the door and the front finders. also i have like a 2-2 1/2 inch gap between the front fenders and the front bumper, on both sides (one side has a bigger gap than the other). the hood seems to fit well so i dont think the front end is messed up (but im no body man). i want to get this figured out before i make an attempt at sanding and painting. i would hate to put all tha work into the wrong finders, if thats the problem.
has anyone ever seen this before? i have pictures but dont have a web host. if someone is nice enough to help i can email them to you.
The gap between the front QPs and the bumper is normally large, maybe your 2.5 is a bit much, but the gap is normally there. Mine is maybe 3/8 to a half inch, just guessing. Is it a 68?

Besides different marker light cutouts, the Camaro fenders had a recess for a bumper attachment between the fender and front fender extension. It was about 1/4" wide and a few inches in length. Your gap problems are all related to alignment, but don't expect to ever get new car like gaps with these old birds.
It's probally alignment. (I'd like to think that it's the frame horn alignment, the extesnions on the front of the subframe, but you would think that it would show in the hood. And when I thnk, I can get in deep doo-doo.) Get some pictures up.
If my copy and past doesn't work, make a post "Where can you get free picture hosting?" I got the link from the "club" but the dag gone s/t/m/l has always been a problem, so I cannot remember who gave me the link.
Does the fender match up to the hood length? If it does, the fenders are okay and the frame to bumper brackets have probably been replaced in the wrong position like Amervo says. Most accident damage results in a gap to small and damage to the front fenders. These brackets are not that sturdy. Don't even tap something while parking!
My fading memory thinks that my 1968 coupe I bought new had a 3/4" or so gap ahead of the fenders that was detailed with the plastic filler part on each side. Are you missing the filler parts? If this part is missing, it would cause the gap to look enormous. The filler part is a plastic piece that fools the eye into not seeing the gap by closing the space behind it.
This filler piece is available from several repro sources online.
The original bumper fillers are metal. Monte, there are four nuts sticking up in the black sheet metal on top of the bumper. You can loosen them and maybe push the bumper back closer to your hood and fenders.
