I have all my radio stuff and will be starting soon. The front dash speaker(with air)looks like a real pita. So whats it going to take to get that speaker replaced?
It's not fun, but not too bad. I took off the dash trim plate, removed the heater controls, radio and A/C vent. I think you have to take the vent tube out from behind. The speaker is held in with a bracket, IIRC it's only one or two fasteners. The most frustrating thing for me was getting the felt to stay in the right place when reassembling the A/C vent.
I replaced the light in the heater control, put in a new lighter socket (for the gps) while I was in there.
When I replaced mine, the original speaker grill cloth was shot so I found some that looks a lot like the original stuff. Since it came in a 32"X36" piece, I have enough for another few speakers if you need a chunk.
Thanks everyone, it is one of them projects I just don't want to start with no information. Will get on it this week. Can't say enough about this site.
It's actually easier to take out the glove box and remove the speaker from that side. I took mine out that way and didn't take the heater controls out. Speaker went right over it. I don't have A/C thou.
I finished up the radio and speakers this weekend. I did have to take apart the center section of the dash along with the glove box. All in all wasnt to bad of a project and sounds fairly good. The wood could of matched a little better.
