I have a 68 AM radio. I dont know if they were the same.

I have two 68 Firebirds: 68 convertible ls2, auto 4L60E, red interior, white/black power top. I have owned since 1971. 2) 68 coupe, aqua/white tope. aqua interior, 350 4 speed. I am restoring this car and it will be for sale. Before paint or after.

I've got a Firebird AM radio with the fader control on it but I am not sure if the radio is a 67 or 68, and I am not sure if it works or not. I do know that it worked years ago when I parted out the Firebird that it was in. But, it has been stored alot of years in my garage. Let me know if interested.

What are the differences between '67 and '68?

I have a spare radio lying around from the parts car I bought(it had 2 radios with it for some reason).

1968 400 Coupe, verdoro green, black vinyl top, auto
1969 GTO Judge coupe, Carousel Red, manual
1971 Trans Am, cameo white, auto
1970 Buick Skylark Custom Convertible 350-4(driver), Fire Red, white top, auto
1972 Buick GS Stage 1, Royal Blue, black vinyl top, auto

The '67 font color is a bit more green-blue to match the '67 dash (speedo) letter colors.

The '68's had more of a gun-metal-blue to match the '68 dash.

Size and everything else is about the same. Physically, they will interchange. I sat a '67 radio right next to a '68 a couple of months back, and you could hardly tell the difference. You would really need to know what you are looking for to tell the difference once they are installed.

I believe the correct part number was 986823 for a 67. Ebay has one for sale right now with a starting bid of $99.
