This would be another item that works just fine as an Ames repop.
But hey, it's your retirement money!
And it would be pretty tough to see that it wasn't GM once on the car.

Actually, now that I think back, I purchased the assembly from NPD. I don't have any catalogs handy, but it may be on their website. I bought it 3-4 years back.

Rick's Camaro's has them. Last time I checked they were about the only one.

Earlybirds has the correct repro with vapor line. Just trying to get a shipping quote.
AMES - found nothing Classic - no vapor line NPD - no vapor line Eckers Firebird or Camaro (Ricks) - no vapor line
Buy two. I need one for my coupe if its the correct one.

According to the parts manual the 6427857 is for 67-8 F/8 w/A.C. and 67-8 F/8 "400"
69 has a different part no.
Hmm. Good to know in case I need one eventually. I thought I had found the solution there.

Other than originality, is there a functional reason to get it with the return line? The reason I'm asking is that mine originally had the vapor line, but when I replaced my tank, I could only find the single line version & now I'm having difficulty filling the tank. Need to fill slowly & still only get 6 gal in; would the vapor line help?
At $60 plus shipping it made a lot of sense rather than border jumping. I took some pics and will post tomorrow.

Restoring and maintaining old cars and old boats....oh what fun we invent for ourselves. Seems to go in stride with ....You don't live it until you own it....Three steps forward....two steps back ....
I was going to say that Ecklers (Ricks) has the sending unit with fuel line and vapor line because I just purchased one myself.
The other thing I was going to say is in the beginning of this thread you mentioned Earlybirds has one and I am assuming that you are talking about Earlybirds in Canada and not my company, Early Birds which is in Ohio. Like I said, I have purchased one for my own Firebird but I am not selling them right now.
By the way, I am looking for a correct intake manifold for a 1967 Firebird 400. If anybody has one for sale please let me know.

Thanks for the backup, I suggested this one on Page 1.

Saw your post and called Ecker's Tech Support to verify that they were compatible. THe return was a little shorter than stock but other than that, it went in with no issues.

The problem I have with "Rick's .." is it's described as a '69 sending unit. 68 (6427857) Firebird sending units have a different part no. than a 69 (6428667).
The tanks and gauges are different for 68 and 69 so I would expect the sending units to be different.
But...the picture they have at "Ricks..." looks fairly close so maybe there are describing it wrong.
Anyone have a stock 69 pics of a fuel sending unit?

Installed the sending unit the other night and installed the tank with an AMES dampening kit (didn't take pics of the two sendres side by side which would have been helpful (they looked identical with the exception of the shorter return SST line to the sender); only so much daylight with the storage space.
Tonight I poured 6 gal of 91 octane, non-ethanol and it read 1/3 full; added another 6 gal of the same and 2/3 full. I have 5 more gal of the good stuff that I will pour tomorrow and see where it ends up.
Did add some lead substitute, stable, and some Seafoam but should not effect the readings too much. The 68 started right up and ran great after three weeks of gasket and misc repairs to the tank. Hiting the road this weekend for a little shakedown cruise. I should add that this vehicle has seen <1,200 miles since 1996/1997.

The eBay auction tank sender looks to be a bit more correct than the Rick's Camaro's unit regarding the length of the return/vapor line. The price is a little better as well (paid $75 with shipping).
I will be bringing the 68 Raisin to the house today to flush the cooling system and clean it up a bit. Had a blast driving it yesterday. Its not registered yet and I carried the filled out registration form, title, and filled out check just in case.

Hey guys, I'm "refueling" this thread. Is the e-bay unit still the best way to go for a sending unit? Don't have a problem with it, buy ebay all the time. Just seeing if anyone has bought and installed this or another unit lately. Thanks!
