Guys I currently dont have a battery tray, its litterlly just stuffed inbetween the fender well and radiator and held in place with bungies. I have seen some of the firebird/camaro battery tray kits like this: http://www.heartbeatcitycamaro.com/store/product/18550/Camaro-Battery-tray-%26-mounting-kit-67-68-69/ I am curious how the hold down mechanism works. I am used to seeing like a bar or something that screws in and holds it down. I need to order one of these kits before I do damage to the battery and/or car. Can someone post up pictures of there 67 battery and how its held down.
The battery should have an indented area at the bottom on both sides. It slides into the tray projections on one side and that hold-down clamp slides into the other side and you tighten it down.
Even modern gel batterys have the indentations and work with the OEM tray and hold-down.

AH, I get it, it holds from the bottom, not the top like newer batteries. Ok, that explains why there is no hold down bar. Got it, thanks guys. I am going to order the kit.
make sure to get a bird battery holder, you can get it as a kit from classic indutries , camaro is different, its on the opposite side. Ask me how i know.
Does the 67 have a stock overflow catch can at all? I am debating removing this or getting a separate one to relocate. So far I have not had any overheating problems with it down in hot Tucson. Any ideas or recommendations because I do not like having the battery just set in there and held with a bungie like it is now.

I have an overflow, but it was not stock on the car (but bought from Year One)...just wanted it when my car ran hot ,to see how much I lost , plus not poisioning animals around who could lick up the fluids spilled...mine is where the WS washer fluid bottle was, then I added that bottle one to the overflow bottle frame, frames welded together as one unit...
