some people are VERY sensitive....it must not be the first time he has had comments about a high price! lol

I'm guilty of paying a lot of money for NOS parts. I just gave him a gentle nudge as a joke and he went over board. Let's call him the "Parts Nazi". No Parts for you!

I bought brake line mounting hardware from the folks around the corner from him. It fit like socks on a duck. Are the two firms related?

So how can you tell the difference between NOS and repro weatherstripping? Fit only I assume?

I believe I had the original weatherstripping on my bird when I restored it and now I have repros installed. The stuff I got fits fine.

Sometimes the only person who knows you have NOS installed is you. And the repro stuff is most likely in better condition, in this case.

I would never buy NOS rubber parts. Rubber does not age well and the properties get worse with time. I bet the NOS rubber seals don't last and crack prematurely compared with new assuming the same materials. Also new formulations of rubber are better than 40 year old formulations.

Which company are you talking about? My business is only about 2 miles from them. I talked to them on the phone once and they couldn't have been any nicer although I do know they are not afraid to charge big prices.
